The AZUR Peripheral HydroCoil Embolization System combines a platinum coil and an expandable hydrogel polymer. In concert, these elements provide a uniquely stable and permanent platform for blood stasis, thrombus organization, and neointima formation.1, 2, 3
AZUR’s hydrogel coating undergoes limited expansion within the first 3 minutes, and fully expands within 20 minutes*. The result is greater filling and mechanical stability with fewer coils – nearly 5 times more filling volume for the 0.018" coil and 4 times more filling volume for the .035" coil (versus platinum coils of the same size). In other words, AZUR works harder so you don’t have to.

What is a primary advantage of using platinum coils for endovascular treatment in peripheral vascular procedures?
A main benefit of endovascular coiling for peripheral indications is its ability to achieve targeted vessel occlusion with minimal trauma to surrounding tissues. Platinum coils are delivered through microcatheters to embolize vessels in cases such as arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms, or hemorrhage control. Are AZUR Peripheral Hydrocoils MRI safe?
Yes, AZUR™ Peripheral HydroCoils are safe for most MRI scans. They have been tested and can be used safely in MRI machines up to 3 Tesla (a measure of magnet strength). This means if you have these coils in your body, you can usually still get an MRI. Be sure to tell your doctor or MRI technician before your scan. They will check the details to make sure it's safe for you. Always follow your doctor’s advice and ask questions if you’re unsure.
