About Complex Coronary Intervention
Percutaneous Coronary Interventions or PCI has evolved since it’s birth in 1977 and advanced in it’s range of application and technical sophistication. Over the past 20 years, patient presentations have included calcium and thrombus in multiple vessels, and difficult to reach variations of the arterial and venous anatomy – this combined with a range of other patient comorbidities make the procedure more complex, defining it as a complex coronary intervention.1,2
Today, complex coronary interventions comprise almost 25% of all PCI and the lesion subsets are well known to the interventional cardiologist.1 Scientific innovations by Terumo Interventional Systems complement the growing procedural trend by introducing specialty devices that are designed to improve procedural safety, clinical outcomes and procedural time.
